At ATMIA’s recent European ATM & Payments Summit, the Consortium for Next Generation ATMs, made up of over 190 companies worldwide, launched the new API App model for Next Gen ATMs.
Joining in for a champagne toast to the future of ATMs were representatives of two Next Gen ATM Champions, NCR and Renovite, Adam Crighton and Jim Tomaney, as well as ATMIA’s Deputy President, Jeff Matthews, CEO of Grant Victor, Tom Harper, the association’s Founding Director and CEO of Networld Media Group, Ron Delnevo, Executive Director of ATMIA Europe, Karina Zambrano, European Chairperson & General manager, Eurotechzam, Sharon Lane, ATMIA’s Global Membership and Finance Director, ATMIA and Mike Lee, CEO, ATMIA & Chairman of the Consortium for Next Gen ATMs.
Over a two year period, the Consortium developed a blueprint for the future of ATMs aimed at replacing the card with the mobile phone as the main medium for transacting at ATMs. Backed up by an unprecedented level of consensus across the industry, and project-managed by ATMIA, the Consortium is developing new standards for a vendor-agnostic API App model to ensure there is sufficient global interoperability. “Following the popping of the champagne cork to celebrate this historic achievement of our industry, we will soon launch a sophisticated business case toolkit for the next gen project which has identified 22 ways of saving costs through next gen architecture, 14 ways of improving revenue and 8 ways of building new brand value,” commented Mike Lee.
